2018 Wedding trends to watch

Are you one of the many lucky couples that got engaged over the festive period? We bet you're beaming! Chatting about the best wedding events in 2017, the Cooks & Partners team have put together some wedding trend predictions for 2018. So read on and be ahead of the curve and ensure your wedding is the talk of the town.

OMBREE TABLE CENTRES

After a year of seeing dip dye and ombre fill the interiors of shops, we're not surprised its heading on to table centres. This beautiful Simon Lycett example that we spied on Instagram, typifies the trend. Have this on your top table and lots of smaller vases filled with changing colour tones on your individual guest tables. This trend will work beautifully on long tables and we are desperate to see this done at Eltham Palace in the Medieval Palace.

COPPER ACCENTS

The industry has moved on from rose gold (well sort of) and embraced Copper. Again it’s been on the high street for awhile but Cooks & Partners are still tipping it to feature highly at events in 2018. Last year, we helped created a black and copper tablescape, which we loved. Team copper with a dove grey cloth and white too for a stylish look.

TASTE OF THEIR TRAVELS

It’s our favourite request: A menu to suit a couple’s taste using their personal favourite foods of the moment. With food trends roaring around us in London, and the street food markets still a full throttle, we are seeing clients coming to us and wanting on trend with finesse! Peruvian and Japanese flavours work brilliantly on this. We have tried and tested a few poke bowl adaptations this month for a client and are in love with the colourful results! We still think this will prove popular in 2018.

CHAIRS

It used to be that couples would deliberate over a charger plate or table linen. More and more we get couples asking about chair styling and we see why for the above photo. If they are using them for their ceremony too its double the impact. Reclaimed café/bistro chairs are a trend we get asked about for a softer approach to colour palettes in seats. We love cane and lacquered wood chairs too.

VELVET

It’s the “on trend” choice for cushions, futons and armchairs! Why not translate this to your poseur tables too! We love these grey tone cloths featured here in Southern Weddings and can’t wait to see these available in the UK. Until then, we will make do (without much hardship) with the beautiful velvet sofas and armchairs we have seen used a few times this year.
