On a rare warm evening on 19th June 2018, The Orangery in Holland Park opened its doors to over 100 artists for their annual summer party. Upon arrival, each guest was welcomed with the must-have summer drink: Pimms and lemonade, alongside perfectly bite-sized canapes – mess free! The room offered a tropical and calm atmosphere with scattered plants and light pouring in from The Orangery’s massive windows, though most of the artists gathered on the lush lawn to soak up the sun’s rays.
We served a variety of canapes that evening, including a personal favourite, truffle scented crostini with quail eggs, asparagus, parmesan cream and toasted poppy seeds – a massive hit with the vegetarian attendees!
Though if you prefer something meatier, you would have enjoyed the poppy seed and parmesan shortbread with Welsh black seared beef sirloin and home-made curd cheese.
And for all the pasta lovers out there, myself included, the Thai shrimp and water chestnut ravioli with coconut and green curry foam definitely hit the spot!
The remainder of the evening was spent enjoying the stunning weather, observing the unique art on display and mingling with like-minded people while sipping that delicious glass of Pimms and lemonade.
