Chaika Events create the ultimate unicorn utopia at The Orangery

This one is for all the unicorn lovers out there!

Cooks and Partners were delighted to cater once again at the gorgeous Orangery in Holland Park’s leafy surrounds. A clear and chilly January Saturday had our events team hard at work setting up for a lovely young lady’s 6th birthday party and the theme was set to dazzle.

Alongside bespoke event agency, Chaika Events, and balloons extraordinaire, Bubblegum Balloons, the Orangery was transformed from its versatile shell into a glittering unicorn utopia, fit for any birthday girl’s dream!

The cool weather meant we kept the event contained to the room and the built in heaters were on from the get go.

A fabulous dining table lined with ghost chairs and laden with themed tableware sat to the one side of the room. A separate chill-out space was created for the parents and offered chic modular seating and crystal coffee tables, lending to the overall event design perfectly.

Bubblegum Balloons worked their magic by adorning the ceiling with large foil balloons and scattering star-shaped numbers throughout the room. Strategic and colourful uplighting and LED stars added an extra dimension to the party and to finish it all off, the girls and boys were brilliantly entertained by a unicorn-themed ball pit paired with a unicorn bench. Not to mention the outstanding entertainers, dressed in cool unicorn and pirate costumes, a grooving DJ, two face-painting stations that were well frequented by the children and clever balloon artists creating crowns and creatures of all types on request.

Though no one can enjoy all that fun on an empty stomach! Parents were offered vintage Champagne and red wine on arrival while the kids dashed in and out of play to slurp on their fresh orange or apple juice.

We followed yummy beverages with a trio of bowl foods including the roasted garlic, chilli prawns and crayfish tails with orso pasta and fresh basil dish, a Chinese spiced pork belly with wok fried greens and sweet plum sauce (a personal recommendation that went down spectacularly!) and the vegetarian favourite: Sussex pumpkin and Shropshire Blue cheese risotto with roasted pecans and rosemary.

The birthday girl and her friends devoured a sharing style meal of children’s favourites such as mini burgers and margarita pizzas, grilled chicken skewers and French fries. Though healthy foods not to be forgotten! We also served up vegetable garden crudities with hummus and deliciously fresh fruit kebabs.

Once filled to the brim, the birthday party was unleashed on a (you guessed it) unicorn cake! Parents were offered a selection of barista hand-made coffees to settle the meal and keep the energy levels up, and dry snacks were available for anyone who was still peckish.
